Frequently Asked Questions

What length are these graded scaffold boards?

These graded scaffold boards are approximately 10 feet, or 3000mm, in length. They are suitable for use on scaffolding systems and for a variety of general construction and landscaping projects.

What are 10ft scaffold boards typically used for?

They are primarily used to create safe working platforms and walkways on scaffold structures. They are also popular for site hoardings, temporary ramps, work benches, garden projects and rustic style furniture or decking where a sturdy timber plank is required.

Are these scaffold boards graded for use on scaffolding?

Yes. The boards are graded scaffold boards intended for use on correctly erected scaffold systems. Always ensure they are supported, lapped and fixed according to current scaffolding guidance and safety regulations.

Are the scaffold boards supplied treated?

Many scaffold boards are supplied either untreated or pressure treated depending on supplier specification. Check the product description for the exact treatment details. If boards are to be used in exposed or ground contact situations, additional treatment or protection may be advisable.

Can I use graded scaffold boards for decking and garden projects?

Yes. Scaffold boards are often used as an alternative to traditional decking boards, raised beds, retaining edges and garden seating. When used decoratively, you may wish to sand and seal the boards and ensure that any cut ends are appropriately treated.

What width and thickness are the 10ft scaffold boards?

Standard scaffold boards are manufactured to a typical width and thickness suitable for scaffold applications. Please refer to the product specification or technical data for the exact section size supplied with these 10ft boards.

How should scaffold boards be stored on site?

Store boards on level bearers, off the ground and in a well ventilated area. Avoid areas of standing water and support stacks at regular centres to prevent excessive bowing. Cover loosely to protect from the weather while allowing air circulation.

Do scaffold boards require regular inspection?

Yes. Boards used on scaffolds should be regularly inspected for damage, splits, excessive wear or decay. Any board that shows significant defects, or does not meet the required standard, should be removed from service immediately.

Can these boards be cut down to shorter lengths?

Scaffold boards can be cut to suit particular uses with suitable saws, but once cut they may no longer meet the requirements for use as scaffold planks. Any modified boards used for access platforms should comply with relevant safety standards and be assessed by a competent person.

Are fixings included with the scaffold boards?

No fixings are normally supplied with scaffold boards. Choose appropriate scaffold couplers, fittings or timber fixings depending on how the boards will be supported and secured in your particular application.
