Structural Grade Treated Timber | 175mm x 47mm (7x2)
Our large stock of 7x2 Timber is the perfect structural material for a variety of building applications, such as roof and floor joists, partitions, and timber framing. Along with this, our Treated Timber is EN14081-2, making it perfectly suitable for both indoor and outdoor projects.
As well as our timber receiving the highest quality treatment, we sourced the highest quality Scandinavian Whitewood Spruce, a slow-growing tree that produces tight growth rings, leaving the finished timber with an extremely high level of stability and a premium finish. The process of manufacturing the timber is extremely environmentally friendly, with all of the wood is responsibly sourced. The timber then gets kiln-dried and treated, to ensure maximum protection against all forms of decay.
Our Treated Timber is available in a variety of sizes and lengths. However, we can also cut any Timber to your required length or pack together as many pieces as you require, just select the custom cut of your choice when purchasing.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is “treated timber 7×2 (175×47 mm)”?
It’s softwood (often spruce or pine) that’s been pressure treated and dimensioned to 175 mm × 47 mm (nominal “7×2”) for structural outdoor use.
What protection does the treatment offer?
It protects against rot, decay, insects, and fungal attack for outdoor or ground‑contact use.
Is it suitable for ground contact?
Many treated timbers are rated for above-ground or ground‑contact use. Check the specific treatment class (e.g. UC2, UC3, UC4).
Can it be used for fencing and decking frames?
Yes — its durability and treated nature make it ideal for fence posts, rails, decking substructure, and pergolas.
How should I cut or drill it?
Use standard woodworking tools (saws, drills) but ensure bits are clean and sharp; treat cut ends with end‑grain preservative.
Does it need sealing or painting?
While treatment provides internal protection, applying sealers, stains, or paint extends appearance and adds weather protection.
What is its expected lifespan?
With proper installation, it can last 15–25 years or more, especially if off the ground and maintained.
Can I use it indoors?
Yes, but treated timber is often over‑specification for indoor use and may have a greenish hue or preservative smell.
Is it safe for contact with food or edible gardens?
Avoid direct contact with edible soil/food. For raised beds, use a barrier or safer wood outdoors if in contact with vegetables.
Where should I store it before use?
Store off the ground on battens, under cover but ventilated, so it remains dry and flat before installation.
