Frequently Asked Questions
What makes this 18 mm phenolic birch plywood special?
It features a textured anti‑slip mesh face on one side and smooth phenolic film on the other, built on a Weather & Boil Proof (WBP) birch plywood core. It’s designed for durability under tough conditions.
In what situations is 18 mm anti‑slip phenolic birch plywood typically used?
Common uses include trailer bases, farm walkways, work platforms, shop‑fitting, and any area where a strong, textured surface and high durability are needed.
Is this board suitable for outdoor and wet environments?
Yes. Thanks to its WBP adhesive core and phenolic film surfaces, it resists moisture and corrosion. However, sealing of exposed edges is recommended to prevent water ingress.
What sheet sizes are available in the 18 mm thickness?
Standard sheet sizes include 8×4 ft (≈ 2440×1219 mm), 4×4 ft, 4×2 ft, 2×2 ft, 2×1 ft. Also available in larger 10×5 ft sheets for this thickness.
How does the thickness affect strength and load capacity?
18 mm gives significant strength and rigidity, able to support heavier loads and resisting deflection better than thinner sheets. It’s well suited for structural or high‑traffic use.
Is the anti‑slip surface effective for grip and safety?
Yes — the mesh surface increases friction and helps reduce slip risk, especially when wet or when used in ramp or trailer applications.
Can it be cut, drilled or shaped without damaging the finish?
Yes, but use sharp tools. After cutting or drilling, it’s important to seal exposed edges. Support the sheet evenly to avoid splintering or edge damage.
How should I store and transport these sheets?
Store flat, off the ground, in a dry area. Transport carefully — the full‑size sheets are heavy and large; require help to unload and support during handling.
What maintenance is needed to preserve performance?
Regular cleaning (gentle wash), avoiding standing water on the mesh face, re‑sealing cut edges, and checking surfaces occasionally for wear will keep the board performing well over time.
Are trade discounts or bulk purchase options available for this product?
Yes — trade or large‑quantity orders usually receive special pricing. Contact the sales team for quotes, lead times, and availability.
