Composite Decking Composition

These innovative composite decking boards are made from 55% recycled wood, 40% HDPE, and ~5% additives, so they're not only good for the environment but also incredibly durable.

The composition of the boards can vary slightly for each colour, depending on the additives used to create the colour. So if you're looking for a unique, eye-catching deck that will last for years to come, SmartDeck® decking is a perfect choice!

Application

All of our composite deck boards come in 4m or 2m lengths, but can easily be cut down to custom sizes with standard carpentry tools. And, unlike classic wood decking, you don't have to worry about composite boards warping or cracking over time.

They're also incredibly easy to install - even if you're not a professional tradesman. Simply secure the boards using hidden fixings for a clean and professional installation that will last the test of time.

Do not attach composite decking boards directly to the subframe with screws, always use the clips or fitting systems provided to secure the deck to the joists.

The clips allow the deck to expand or contract by about 5mm. 5mm Gap, allow a 5mm gap at the end of each board to expand and contract during hotter weather conditions.
Gradient allows for a 1 in 100 (1%) gradient to allow water to drain off the deck.

Please Note:

As with all brands of composite decking, SmartDeck's range will lighten and lose up to 30% of its colour in the first 6 months before stabilising to its final colour.

Composite products are made in different batches. Batches can differ in size, shade, texture and colour. We highly recommend ordering all of your deckings together to avoid subtle differences in appearance.

Composite Decking Boards have a width tolerance of up to 2%.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Anthracite Grey composite fascia board used for?

An Anthracite Grey composite fascia board is used to finish and conceal the exposed edges and framing of a composite deck. It creates a neat border around the deck and helps protect the subframe from weathering and impact.

Is this fascia board colour-matched to Anthracite Grey composite decking?

Yes. The fascia board is designed to complement Anthracite Grey composite decking boards so the perimeter and step risers match the main deck surface for a coordinated look.

What length and size is the Anthracite Grey fascia board?

The fascia is supplied in 4m lengths, ideal for running along deck edges, raised platforms and step risers. Exact width and thickness can be found in the product specification and are sized to suit the matching deck board profile.

How do I fix composite fascia boards to my deck frame?

Fascia boards are typically fixed directly to the outer face of the deck frame using colour-matched composite screws or suitable stainless steel fixings. Pre-drilling and countersinking can help achieve a neat finish and reduce the risk of splitting. Always follow the manufacturer’s fixing guidelines.

Can I cut the fascia board to shorter lengths?

Yes. Composite fascia boards can be cut with common woodworking tools such as a circular saw with a fine-tooth blade. Measure carefully, support the board while cutting and always wear appropriate eye and dust protection.

Does the Anthracite Grey fascia board need painting or staining?

No. The colour is integrated into the composite material so there is no need for painting or staining. Routine cleaning with mild soapy water is usually sufficient to keep the fascia looking good.

Is the fascia board suitable for use around steps and raised decks?

Yes. Fascia boards are commonly used to clad the sides of raised decks and the risers of steps, improving appearance and helping to hide structural timbers beneath. Ensure fixings are sufficient for the extra exposure on step risers.

Will the colour of the Anthracite Grey fascia fade over time?

Composite products can experience some light weathering and colour change when first exposed to the elements, after which the colour tends to stabilise. They are formulated with UV inhibitors to minimise long-term fading.

Can this fascia board be used with other colours of composite decking?

Yes. While it is designed to match Anthracite Grey boards, it can also be used as a contrasting border with other deck colours if you want a framed or picture-frame style design.

How do I clean and maintain an Anthracite Grey composite fascia board?

Maintenance is simple: brush off loose debris and wash periodically with warm water and a mild detergent, using a soft brush. Avoid aggressive solvents or pressure washing at very close range, which could damage the surface.
