Description

Composite Decking Starter Clips With Screws

All of our Composite Decking Boards have the option for hidden installation. Along with the other Hidden Fixings we stock, the stainless steel Starter Clips are installed between the boards to fasten them to the joists with no visible screws for a smooth finish and added safety. These Starter Clips ensure a consistent finish to the decking by creating even 5mm gaps between the boards. These Starter Clips are compatible with most if not all types of Composite Decking Boards.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Side Length Supporting Clips?

These clips are metal/plastic fasteners designed to support the side edges of composite decking boards, improving strength and stability.

Why are they needed?

They prevent lateral board movement, support edges and improve overall structural integrity.

How do they install?

Clips screw into the joists or framework and grip the edge of the decking board — typically at the perimeter or at key stress points.

What materials are they made from?

Typically stainless steel or coated metal, corrosion-resistant and suitable for outdoor conditions.

Do they work with all composite boards?

Yes, compatible with most grooved composite decking boards; always check the board profile.

Can they be used with hidden fixing systems?

Yes — they complement hidden fixings and add additional side support.

Do they affect the appearance of the deck?

No — they’re installed out of sight, under or beside boards, keeping the deck looking clean.

How many clips do I need?

Depends on deck size and number of perimeter boards; typically one per joist/per board edge.

Do they prevent board sagging or cupping?

They help keep edges aligned and reduce sagging over time.

Are they weather-resistant?

Yes — they’re designed to withstand moisture and temperature fluctuations outdoors.
