Specifications
MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) is a commonly used particle board. It is made by mixing wood fibres, waxes and resins then hot pressing it to different thicknesses. Its main advantage compared to other particle boards and timbers is its clean finish and lack of natural imperfections. Additionally, our MDF boards are FSC Certified, making them extremely environmentally friendly. Due to its dense fibre body, MDF remains strong and holds its form if installed correctly. With massive stocks available, you can always rely on Builders Marketplace for all your MDF needs.
Practical uses of the White Melamine MDF include bathroom and kitchen furniture and skirting and window boards . Its base of Standard MDF with a white melamine coating adding an extra desirable quality above standard MDF material. Because our MDF is manufactured without grain or knots, it’s easy to apply paints and veneers to its face side for full customisation. This smooth surface also contributes to the ease of cutting screwing and gluing of the boards, as well as making them easy to clean and maintain.
Our White Melamine MDF is available in a variety of thicknesses (12mm, 15mm, 18mm) and multiple sizes. We can also cut any piece of MDF to your required size or pack together as many sheets as you need for your project. Delivery is offered or collections can be made from our depot for savings.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where is 12 mm melamine MDF best used?
Useful for cabinets, wardrobe panels, shelving, decorative wall panels — situations where a balance of strength and manageability is needed.
Does the melamine coating protect against stains or marks?
Yes, the surface resists many stains and is easier to clean than raw MDF. But sharp or highly alkaline cleaners should be avoided.
Will the board warp or sag under load at 12 mm?
It has decent stiffness; over large spans or heavy loads, proper support (brackets, framing) helps prevent sagging.
Can I cut grooves or shapes into this board cleanly?
Yes — with proper tools (fine blades, clean cuts). Seal or edge band these cuts to maintain durability and finish.
Is painting required on the visible faces?
No — because the melamine finish is already white and finished. Paint may be needed for edges or matching other components.
How should I clean and maintain the surface?
Wipe with damp cloth, mild soap, avoid scrubbing with abrasive pads. Dry quickly, especially around edges.
Does it handle humidity or splash‑zones?
Better than raw MDF, but still not waterproof. Edges should be sealed and avoid constant water contact.
What are the available sizes and cut‑to‑fit options?
Full board sizes standard; many suppliers offer custom size cutting to minimize waste.
Is this board good value compared to paint‑finish or laminate?
Yes — pre‑finished surface saves time and labour for painting/finishing; durable finish can reduce re‑work.
Trade or bulk opportunities?
Usually yes — for large orders trade pricing can apply, and matching edge banding/trim might be offered.
